Google : New toolbar for Firefox!
Sunday, April 09, 2006
Google has launched beta version of the Google Toolbar for firefox. The new version is Version 2.
It has not got all the features which one can expect in a toolbar but still it has got some good improvements so as to name it a new version.
This release has included two other extensions of Firefox and those two have been discontinued. They are Google Safe Browsing & Google Suggest, they both are now part of Google Toolbar itself.
Google safe browsing feature helps you be safe from web forgery or you can say that this is a great tool to be safe from Phishing and now as this is part of Google toolbar, it is going to help a lot of users in being safe from the ill side of the internet. To test this feature you can click on the Google logo on the toolbar and then under "safe browsing" click on "open test page" & this is how it looks like :
Google suggest feature is not new as it only gives the suggestions while you type your query, just like Google Suggest.
Another update is that it has got a small new button which is called "Subscribe" and allows you to subscribe to the feeds of your favourite sites. It allows you to subscribe the feeds to services like "my yahoo", "news gator", "google home", etc. It would have been nice for google if they would have included Google Reader in this list..as it would have promoted there existing service.
All other features are almost same & there is no major change apart from what I've mentioned.
As a major update it would have been great to add a feature like Google Bookmarks in this, that would have become a certain hit.
Because of these good additions in the toolbar the review has become better and will fetch better review points. It needs much more features to get good reviews points.
