Photo Management Software for Linux

Sunday, May 28, 2006

Well, this is a great news for those users who are using the WINDOWS REPLACEMENT (linux). Now, Google has finally launched the linux version of thier photo management software, which is PICASA. The biggest complaint of WINDOWS REPLACEMENT users is that they don't have many softwares which are avialable for windows and even if they have some softwares then the quality of those softwares is not guarenteed as they are not developed by BIG SOFTWARE GIANTS.

Anyway, coming to the point that finally Google has brought the WINDOWS REPLACEMENT version of Picasa. Users can download the software bundle which includes : PICASA - The software itself, WINE - the windows emulator for Linux & Gecko Engine. They can download the bundle from here : Picasa for Linux.

Yes, Google has developed the software with the help of Wine & Mozilla's Gecko Engine. Wine is basically the windows emulator for linux and Google is claiming that even though it is build for WINE there is no problem of slow operation of the software. They are claiming so, because they've developed the software on the stable build of WINE. For those who are interested in getting the exact build which Google Used can download that version from here : Exact Wine Source used for Picasa. More Information can be found @ Picasa For Linux.
