A New Era For Microsoft!

Technology changes slowly, and with it, the companies change too. Over time, new companies emerge, and larger ones collapse and grow stronger. For Microsoft, they are stepping into the future. Microsoft announced that Bill Gates will be stepping away from his duties that he preforms on a day to day basis; mainly from his title as Chief Software Architect. Although these changes won't be official until July of 2008, Ray Ozzie, one of the companies Chief Technical Officers, will assume the title immediately. Another Chief Technical Officer, Craig Mundie, will assume the title of Chief Research and Strategy Officer. These men will work closely with Gates for the next couple of years until Bill Gates' official step down.

This comes with a new development also, one that has made many users unhappy. Microsoft announced that it will stop support for all Operating Systems, Windows 98, and ME. This decision will ultimately leave all users of these OSs without security and support, forcing users to upgrade and buy a newer OS, or be left in the dark. Obviously Microsoft is stepping forward towards newer technology, and newer leaders in the company. Hopefully the rest of the world will keep up too as the make new head ways in the technological industry.
