Google Makes Mobile More Powerfull!

Wednesday, July 26, 2006

On Tuesday, Google announced a new service for mobile users. The service will let people get the driving directions for more than 30 major U.S. cities. It is to be noted that the service is only specific to U.S.A. (remember, more than 30 U.S. cities).

The service allows users to select the desitnation and it displays the traffic conditions of the route. It displays the road conditions in three colors : -- red for congested, yellow or orange for slowdowns, and green for smooth sailing.

The service can be accessed by mobile users by visiting to the site (http://google.com/gmm) using the browser of their mobile devices. It is to be noted that the service is offering the traffic status as a new addition other serivces like driving conditions and business locations were already there.

Yahoo is already offering the service but it is limited to the PC only and is not available on the mobile, so Google has got one step ahead of Yahoo over here.

In another move to make information accessible thorugh mobile, Google has announced Google Search Appliance Mobile edition, a tool basically for the enterprise users of the Google. It will integrate with Google OneBox (A search device for large companies) and will provide the company information to the employees of the company.

So, Google has taken significant steps to make mobile a better and more usable device. I am sure in future it will be the mobile only which will be much more productive and people are waiting eagrly for that day :)
