MySpace went down for 12 hours

Tuesday, July 25, 2006

Myspace, the social networking site which is know for many reasons and is in the news for something or the other for e.g. Rupert Murdoch bought Myspace, Zango spyware hits Myspace, Security measures taken up by Myspace....and the list goes on (simply copy the news terms and do a search and you'll see what I want to say) and this time Myspace was hit by something which no one will expect and that is HEAT WAVES!

Yes, due to heat waves in California (where temp. has gone upto 118 degrees), the power systems went down and due to which Myspace (such a big website) failed to use any power backup and as a result was down for around 12 hours.

Well, if the sites like Myspace can fail so badly then I think it is a very sad thing from the technology point of view. Because if the localized power fails then these commercial sites must have a solid plan for the backups, be it data backup, power backup or security backup. After all, so many people rely on the popular websites.

I am not sure when people will stop visiting these kind of websites when they know that Myspace is turning out to be one of the paradise for the spyware comanies like Zango.
