We all use compression utilities and we alway wonder which compression utility to use and then finally we look up at some of the popular compression utilities and today I am going to review one of the popular compression utility. However, it is not a freeware but because it is one of the most featured software, so, I am going to review it for you all.
Interface : Winrar has a nice and simple explorer like interface. It is the explorer like interface which makes it simple and has started the trend in the industry as well, as Winzip one of the biggest player in the compression utility also tried to copy the same technique. The toolbars, provide almost all the major options which one can use with a compressed file. Not only the whole software, however the right click context menu also provides the major options and covers almost every feature of the software.
Features : Winrar has got lot of features which other softwares miss and that makes it popular product. The best feature is that it supports RAR format, which is the second best known compression format and is picking up fast. Because RAR was launched by Winrar maker only, so you can expect best behaviour from Winrar towards RAR format.
It also provides various options while a user is adding or extracting files from the archive.
If Rar is used then it has a better compression ratio then that of ZIP and thus becomes one of the major reason of becoming instant hit after ZIP.
Ease Of Use : Nice explorer like interface, feature and option rich application and nice context menu makes it a very easy to use software. However, people who have used Winzip before may find it a bit odd in starting but once they'll use it, they'll find it that explorer like interface is handy most of the times.
Value : With a price tag of $ 29 (excluding VAT) it becomes a little expensive program to purchase. Because there are lot of free alternatives in the market and a user can easily use a free software even though the free software may not have as many features as this software has. However, those who rely on features and don't care about price then it is must buy product for them.
