Anyway, coming back to the point, Well, if you are thinking the same question for this software then don't think about it, simply Install it.
Now, for those who don't know about winpatrol.......Wake up, you need a big security alarm :).

Well, what I've experienced with the software till this date (i've been using it for years) is exactly what publisher comments' say. Yes, it is a watch dog and it watches the important changes in your computer and watches it well. It uses very less memory and keeps on checking about the system changes. Unlike, traditioanl anti-spyware progams, Winpatrol does'nt scan the computer's harddisk to find out the spywares, instead, it takes heuristic approach and takes the snapshot of the system and warns the users in case their is a change in the system.
It gives the alert on the changes which are done while software installation or similar tasks but it will never alert on the changes which a user is making, so that is also handy feature because Winpatrol is your friend and a good friend knows that who is a friend and who is the enemy!
Not only that, it has set of tools which are always helpful in monitoring the system and its resources. It inludes the following utilities :
Startup manager, browser helper object (BHO) manager, scheduled tasks, services manager, cookies handler and many small features.
Apart from the free version, there is a paid version as well which is called Winpatrol Plus which contains the database of the files. As a suggestion, I would like to say that Winpatrol is a recommended software and it is always good to install in the system, it will never fix serious problems but will help you in becoming safe from those problems by not letting them install in first place and in case they get installed somehow, it will allow you to take control of them by disabling the software from running in startup and taking other actions against the unwanted program.
