Skype Certifies McAfee Products!

As reported by Skype Blog, Skype has certified McAfee's Internet security suite. This means that Skype has passed the McAfee's security programs through their standards of security, stability, quality. From now on, these Mcaffee products will have a "certified by skype" mark on their packages! The VoIP company says that this will ensure that the local desktop is safe then the file transfered from the IM will also be safer and will be free from virus.

It is to be noted that Skype is the only IM company which is providing/using 256-bit AES, SHA-1 and RSA algorithms to provide the security to the users. No other IM company is providing the security or encryption like this.

However, I see this deal as nothing but a marketting strategy. This will certainly help McAfee to create a buzz in the market and Skype users may give thought of using McAfee as they trust Skype and anything recommended by a trusted source is generally good.
