Yahoo Gives Tools To Fight Against Phishing!

Thursday, August 17, 2006

Yahoo has recently launched Yahoo Sign-in-seal. It is a new tool to fight against Phishing. In this a person can put a text or photo on the yahoo's login screen and this will personalize the login screen of Yahoo. This is computer specific service, so a person can use this service on a computer which they use regularly.

Now, This can be helpful because a person can put his/her photo or any text on the login screen of yahoo's services. As, an example I am putting up the screenshot of this service (click on the image to enlarge the photo):

With this a person will be sure that they are not getting caught in any phishing site as Yahoo is one of the most popular sites and many phishing sites are present on the internet which look like Yahoo's services but are not.

In order to use this service one will need to go to Yahoo Password Theft Tool and then they can choose what they want to use either text or photo and after that whenever they'll get any yahoo login screen, they'll see that text or photo on top of the login screen as shown in the screenshot.

It is certainly a good option for those who are new on the internet and can become safe from those pitfalls. It will be nice if other companies like Google, Microsoft and AOL can come up with a similar tool.
