Convert Various Documents Into PDF For Free!

Friday, September 22, 2006

Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to send a document but wanted to send that document only in PDF format and then you were not using your computer and you missed your favourite application to convert the documents into PDF format or you do'nt have enough money to buy expensive conversion softwares ? Well, I am not sure about you but I've been through this situation. In case you've been living in caves and you are not sure of what exactly PDF format is, then let me tell you that PDF stands for Portable Document Format and it is a format invented by ADOBE. The Good thing about this format is that it keeps the images, fonts, graphics and layout of the source document, regardless of the fact that which application or platform is used by the user. So, if you create a PDF file in windows you can see it exactly same in a linux based computer as well!

So, coming back to the point and that is there are softwares which allow users to create the PDF documents (nowadays it is considered as the document of the web) but most of them are costly and thus not everyone is able to utilize the power of this format. So, while browsing through the web, I came across this great utility or rather a web application which allows users to convert their documents into PDF format and that too for free!

The good thing about this service is that it supports 53 File Formats! Be it an image or any software specific software, I am sure that you'll find that format in the supported list of file and formats supported by this service :) Here's the list of the formats supported by this service :

The service is Free PDF Convert. In order to use it, you simply need to go on to the website and then upload the file on their servers or if the file is already on the web then simply give the URL of that document and then supply the email address, so that the service can send you the converted document through email as attachment. I then closely noticed there terms and services and found out that they don't sell any information however, if you supply the email address they'll put you in the newsletter subscription list but will give you the option to opt out from the subscription.

It is certainly a very nice service however, sometimes it does get overloaded and starts to give out the error SERVER OVERLOADED. But, I can deal with that till the time it serves the purpose and that is it allows me to convert my documents into PDF format. It doesn't stop over here only, it also allows users to put the security feature in the PDF document and lets them define what users can do and what not! It also gives you the power of putting up the watermark on the pages and thus it becomes one toooo good service :)

Thanks amit for the suggestion of the software. I've used different softwares which are free and allow me to publish the files in PDF format, however, this site can be handy when a person can't install any software while he/she is at work :)

And actually this thing has happened to me where I wanted to submit a document in PDF format and I failed to find a software for that but luckily now I've found this website :)
