The reason for that is that there are websites of multi-national companies who'll pay lots and lots of money to keep their websites up on the google's index search results, as he is taking the example of town and houses so he says that the big players will spend good amount of money to have their houses/hotels built near the sea side and as the poor people will not be able to spend so much money so they'll have their houses built away from the sea side area of the town.
I somewhat agree with his thinking as the sites owned by multi-national companies will concentrate on the major keywords and will spend lots and lots of money to keep their sites coming up on the top of the search results but their are certain things which can help you in getting on the top of the search results and that too with the main keywords. This can be done with the help of addition of new content and that too frequently and the content must have the keyword on which a person is conentrating. For example a person is having a site related to silver jewelry then the person can open up a blog or a forum where he discusses about the silver jewelry then certainly his/her website will come up in the search engine results and that too on the index of the search results.
The reason behind this is that search engines like the websites which have frequent addition of new and original content and if someone maintains a blog then the constant flow of the new content will give them better search engine placement and that too without spending lots of money.
