OneCare Family Safety - Keep your kids safe!

Friday, September 01, 2006

Microsoft has already launched Windows Live OneCare Beta which is basically a security package from Microsoft and makes people safe from getting infected from the bad internet stuff. Now, they have released another product and this is called OneCare Family Safety. This programs lets the computer administrator (mostly parents in families) to take control of the computer's internet access. It gives the ability to the computer admin to put restrictions on the users on the internet and thus can give peace of mind to the parents who find internet a dangerous place for their kids.

This new software has got some serious steps to be performed but once all the steps will be completed, the internet will be much safe for your kids.
Here are some of the features which OneCare Family Safety will have :

Content Filteration : OneCare Family Safety will filter the content based upon the rules set by the computer admin. This way if you have restricted the sites related to porn, games, chat or any other site which may be objectionable for the little ones then even if the kids will try to watch it, they will not be able to see those. The best thing is that it will allow the admin to make different settings for each user. So, in case you have any adult then you can turn off the content filtering for them.

Expert Guidance : Family safety software will also give tips to the users from various child organizations. And those tips will feature on how parents should discuss about inappropriate content on the internet and how it could effect their computer and knowledge.

Activity Reports : As a net monitoring software, it will allow the admin to take a look at the activity of the users and in case the setting needs to be changed then parents can review them and apply the restrictions accordingly. This can be extermely helpful in knowing the loop holes of the applied security.

So, basically it will be one nice software to have on the computer for the concerned parents. The software is available in Beta and needs certain steps to be followed before one can download the software and install it. A user will need to give his/her credit card information as well in order to validate that they are adults and not kids, however nothing is charged from the credit card.
There is one more demerit about this software and that is it asks the user to have Windows Live ID for each and every user on which they want to put restriction but good thing is that it is giving the full customization and control of the Live ID of the kids.
