Telecom Italia Buys Aol's German Unit

Monday, September 18, 2006

In the recent news from New York Times, AOL has sold its german unit of boradband internet to Telecom Italia (Biggest telecom company in Italy) for $855 Million. The companies disclosed the information that from Friday (15th Septemeber, 2006) AOL's broadband unit will be under Telecom Italia's operation.

Currently AOL has 2.5 million broadband subscribers in Germany and this is a huge gain for Telecom Italia. This is basically part AOL strategy as they are focusing on becoming an Internet Portal rather providing internet services to the subscribers. They are planning to sell the Britian & French units as well.

With this change there is another change in reviewsaurus and that is not reviesaurus will be covering AOL as well. So after Google & Microsoft, AOL becomes the third company which will be covered by ReviewSaurus.
