Free Music From Myspace!
Myspace being the most popular social networking, has always been the hot favourite target of hackers or spyware & virus makers but this time various Phishing scams have come up and various Myspace users are being targeted by doing the false promotion of Myspace.
Sophos has warned the Myspace users and suggested them to ignore any of such message. The message has been spamed out and thousands and thousands of users are affected with this.
The message’s headline says “You’ve Got A Song From anyuser on Myspace” and then has links to the phishing site. To make the email look legitimate, the spammer have included this tagline as well :
“At MySpace we care about your privacy. We have sent you this notification to facilitate your use as a member of the MySpace service. If you don’t want to receive emails like this to your external email account in the future, change your Account Settings to “Do not send me notification emails”
Well, again I’ll suggest everyone to please make sure that common sense will always protect you and your friends as well. In order to find out weather a message is spam or not, follow these instructions :
- Always check headers of the emails. In case you are not comfortable then other steps can help you.
- Never trust any email. Instead of going from the link in the email. Directly, go on the website and login from there.
- Always check the link in the email, by right clicking on the link and selecting the properties.
- In case you know that it is a phishing scam then simply report the message to your antivirus vendor, the targetted website (myspace in this case) & your email service provider. Not only it will help you in future but it will help millions others.
So, don’t fall into traps and remember that if we will be cautious then Internet will be a much safer and nice place for everyone.
