Google Groups Gets The New Look!
Thursday, October 05, 2006

After the change in Google Reader's design, Google Engineers have started to work on the change on Google groups as well. They've come out with the beta version of the new design and allow users to have a look at the new beta version over here.
The change is certainly more neat and clean than the old design and the best thing is that it shows the messages and replies just like we get to see the conversations in the Gmail. It also allows Group owners to select their own logos and lets them customize the group in many ways. Although, I do'nt own any group in Google Groups and neigther I want to have one because I've never been a part of an active Google group because my priorties are different on the web now!
Anyway, now that the design has changed a lot and it looks more familier and much better than before so, I may end up in using or being active in one or the other Google Groups. I particularly find GMail Users as oen of the interesting groups on Google Groups.
Another feature which has been added in this new version is that now it allows users of a group to host webpages and they've incorporated Google Page Creator in it and thus it will be easy for the novice users too. It also allows users to upload the files which can be shared by the other users, however it has got the limit of 100 MB.
The changes are really good and the overall look and feel of the new Google groups will allow users to particpate in a much better way.
