Now, don’t forget to see the upcoming birthday’s of your friends even if you forget to login to Orkut or fail to add the information in the Google Calender. There is a new gadget or plugin for Google Personalized homepage, which displays the upcoming birthday’s of your friends. The plugin was launched just few minutes back and I believe
that the integration of the services will help Google in making a loyal users. If you take my example only, then I didn’t use Google Calender before but after they integrated it with Gmail, I started using it. As Google will improve it’s products and will integrate them like Gmail, Google Docs etc. they’ll be enjoying much bigger and loyal user base.

In order to add the gadget in your personalized Google homepage, please visit the following link : Add Orkut Birthday’s Gadget. You’ll get the page looking just like in the image below and simply click on Add to Google button to look at the upcoming birthday’s.

Google has released the new version of Google Desktop and now Google desktop version 4.5 is out there for you to download and use it. This new version has got an excellent sidebar and which is transparent and blends very nicely with the desktop and gives the look and feel of that of Mac Desktop Widget. This new version has better looking and much improved gadgets (plugins) and supports Microsoft Office 2007 too. Although, Google Desktop Search is a good tool and I used it too at one point of time but then I thought that it was not of great help to me as, I keep my files in a very organised manner and I get the files almost instantly with normal windows search :)
I agree that Google Desktop Search much more than search only and I’ll suggest that one must try this at least once but beware, you’ll need a good hard disk space as the index file of Google Desktop is really big and you can easily expect it to grow in GB’s too!

When the new design of Google Reader was launched, most of the people including me thought that they came out with the mix of Bloglines and GMail’s interface. The interface of Google Reader is now one of the best RSS reader interface; as I’ve experienced. However, now I think that Google must change the interface of Gmail as well and make it similar to Google Reader. The reason, why I think that it must be done is because of a following scenario :
Consider that you’ve sent an email to 10 people and 5 of them replied to that email and then you sent the email to again those same 10 people and again some of them replied back and then you replied back individually to those replies. Now, when you have more than 10-20 emails in a conversation, this scenario may appear where you may miss one or two messages which may be important in that conversation, but you’ll miss them because as soon as you click on the converstaion, it gets marked as read even though you’ve not read one or two replies of that conversation.
Now, what I believe that Google can make changes in the Gmail’s interface and make it like the new Google Reader’s interface. Where it marks those posts as read which you’ve read and as you scroll down, the posts gets marked as read and not when you click on the feed itself. So, conisdering the conversation as the feed and the messages in that as posts, Google can make these changes and provide a better user experience.
What do you think about this and if you think you’ve got some other idea then what are they ?

Do you have a spreadsheet where you want the latest date to appear as soon as you open up that particular spreadsheet, but are finding it as a headache, that everyday you’ve got to update the date in the spreadsheet ? If the answer was yes, then you don’t need to worry about that anymore.
In order to make the date update automatically just put =TODAY () in the cell, where you want to keep the updated date and enjoy the updated date everyday!
This tip is applicable in Zoho sheet, Google Docs & Microsoft Excel. For Microsoft excel in case you want to put the current date too fast then simply press Ctrl+; and you’ll have the current date in the cell!

Google has released some of the notable updates in GMail. The updates are welcome changes as always. Two of the changes have been released just today only but few other updates were released few days back. Here’s the list of the updates and lets see if these updates can help us :
* Reply button on the top : Have you noticed one thing in GMail and that is now it
It is a good option because there have been cases where a person actually knows what’s written in the email and email is large enough that a person has to scroll down to the bottom of the page, so that he/she can reply to the message or they’d to click on More options and then select reply. Overall, GMail needs many more updates like this, where it gives the direct access to more usable buttons.
* New message notification : If you’ve been part of a group conversation through email
and if at all, you are on that side which is trying to justify your own actions then you are going to love this particular feature. This feature will give the notification to you of an updated conversation, while you are reading or replying to a message in conversation. You can read the updated messages, so that you can fire your all guns on those nasty updates from your manager :D
* Forward All : This feature will allow you to forward the whole conversation at once and will make you free from the trouble of clicking on the Forward button of each message in the conversation.
* Offline Messages : Don’t want to send an email when you just want to say HI!. Well, if yes then simply select the person in GMail Talk and send the offline message and when the person will login to their GMail, they’ll be able to see it as an offline message. Google Talk has also got this same update.
* Read GMail using your mobile : Google has released the mobile application which will allow users to read their GMail using their mobile phone itself. You’ll need to download the application once and then it will be easy task for you. In order to download the application on your mobile phone, simply point the browser of your mobile phone to http://gmail.com/app
