gmail.jpgGina Trapani from Lifehacker has collected various Greasemonkey scripts and compiled them together to create one extension called Better Gmail. This Firefox extension, improves the functionality of Gmail and makes sure that you can do more with Gmail and that too without wasting much time.

This extension is capable of doing some amazing work and I’m glad that Adam Pash from Lifehacker took the pain of explaining its functionality. When this was released, I was in doubt that whether it’s safe to use Greasemoneky scripts as Gmail’s program policy is against any reformation or framing of any webpage related to Gmail service. So, I headed towards the best blog about Google and i.e. Google Blogoscoped and I was glad to find that, it is quite safe to use the Greasemonkey scripts, till the time, the Gmail service is not abused.

I found Better Gmail as a really great plugin, what about you ?

Google is the best search engine but there is always a scope of improvement (oh, I’m not referring to the search results over here, I’m referring to the looks and design). Google Icon is a small extension of firefox (just 3 Kb), which adds the Favicon of the websites in front of the search results.

Although, it will not make any difference but certainly a boring search result page looks quite colorful :)

reviewbasicslogo.jpgThere are various services, which let you easily upload the videos and then share them with the world. However, there is hardly any service, which lets you take feedback on those videos. Feedback becomes really important, when as a blogger you upload any webcast or you may be planning to release any webcast.

ReviewBasics, which I covered around January this year, has released such a service. They are letting you to get your videos reviewed by others and that too all at one place. The feature is extremely nice and can be extremely helpful for bloggers, who are thinking of getting their webcasts reviewed.

However, there are some limitations with the service and they are that it only allows 25 Mb of video to be uploaded on their service and I believe that 25 Mb is almost nothing when it comes to webcasts or videos of decent time frame. However, the good news is that they seem to have agreed on the idea which I suggested that it will be nice to see if their developers can integrate YouTube or other video sharing websites, then they’ll be able to make it quite simple for users and themselves.

Let’s hope that they’ll be able to integrate the video sharing websites in short time frame and so that we all will be able to make better use of this awesome service.

joost.jpgSometime back, I wrote about Streamick which showed various channels on the internet. To be honest, I really didn’t have much idea of their future plans, what they were planning for future and i.e. Peer to Peer TV. But, now I’m much clear about it. Although, Streamick has yet not released anything like Peer to peer TV but founders of Kazza & Skype have started another Peer 2 Peer project (gosh! they are PRO in this field and have made great success in the last two P2P projects, after all, who doesn’t know about Kazza & Skype). There new project is called Joost (pronounced as Juiced, I wonder that is it the naming, which is helping them in becoming huge hits).

Well, as you may have guessed that Joost is a Peer to Peer Television and without any Set top box or other device (except your computer and high speed internet connection), you’ll be able to watch the T.V. shows, movies and other videos from various media companies and that too for free. I mean, its free at this point of time but later on there may be charges for different kind of content.

Joost has partnered with Viacom and some other media players for the content distribution and the way they are partnering with many companies, it is for sure that they’ll be able to repeat the success, which they had in the past with Skype & Kazza. However, it is to be noted that the bandwidth was not a big issue in the last two projects, but in the case of Joost, it will be a big issue and it is always suggested that when you are watching the videos over the internet, the a internet connection with the speed of atleast 1 Mbps is a must and which is not available at reasonable rates across the world.

So, Joost which is certainly looking promising (I was recently invited by Joost for their Beta program) may find difficulty in attracting users from all across the world and which may not give them, the success as huge as Skype or Kazza. What do you think, that will Joost be the future of TV or will it be just another source of entertainment over the internet ?

conduit.jpgEver wondered that how beneficial it would have been for you, if you could communicate with your blog visitors quite easily ?. Ever wondered that you had your own toolbar with your branding and similar stuff ? Well, if you have then this dream could be easily completed with the help of Conduit. It’s a service which lets you create custom toolbars and then helps you brand them as well and helps you in keeping in touch with your visitors.

Conduit is a silicon valley based company which has grown pretty quickly. Back in January this year, Techcrunch had written about this service and at that point of time, with the help of 125,000 publishers there were 5,000,000 toolbar installs and now in April the stats are quite impressive. Publishers have grown from 125,000 to around 130,000 and the toolbar installs have grown from 5,000,000 to 12,000,000! I came to know about this service when one of the reader’s of ReviewSaurus showed me this service.

It is quite easy to create the toolbar for your website, blog or community. The toolbar is available for both Firefox and Internet Explorer and has got lots of customizations and as a publisher you get to know, that how many downloads have been made till this point of time.

Toolbar has got following features :

1. RSS Reader.
2. FM Radio.
3. Google Search.
4. Bookmarking facility.
5. Messaging functionality for publishers, for communicating with the community lovers & more…

I’ve created the toolbar for ReviewSaurus and don’t forget to download this and leave your comments on what you liked about this toolbar and what you didn’t.
