I’m sure that there would have been times, when you would have wondered that what next should be done on the internet. You’ve downloaded movies, read the news, downloaded music, checked your email and what not, but still you want to do something, because you just don’t have anything else to do and you to pass your time, you want to use the internet connection. Am I wrong ? Haven’t you experienced anything like that ?
Well, atleast I’ve gone through this situation a lot and then I discovered the web! Well, with this statement, I mean that I started to use various toolbars which can suggest me various new websites and help me find new and interesting content of my taste. Let’s look at various toolbars :
1. StumbleUpon : Ok, all this was started by this company. StumbleUpon, which was recently in news as some PROs thought that Ebay will acquire Stumbleupon. Stumbleupon created a toolbar, which lets users select the topic of their taste and then displays various webpages, websites and all this is done with user input. You can suggest various sites, which you like and then vote in their favour or against those pages. This way, you’ll be able to get new pages and will be able to connect with people, who share same interest as you have.
The idea seemed to work and now most of the people love to use this service as not only, it shows various webpages, but now they are displaying interesting videos & photos too. I’ve really enjoyed many videos and found great articles and websites using this service.
As a blogger as well, you feel great if you get Stumbled upon, because it generates good traffic and mostly you’ll find that the traffic generated with Stumbleupon will give you regular readers and will increase your feed subscriber count.
2. Yoono : This French startup has got a good user base of 600,000 even though, it was not officially released yet. It was released in this Web 2.0 Expo. This works somewhat like Stumbleupon, however it gives you the suggestions on your searches too. So, you can get the recommended content and that related to your search term.Yoono has launched other features like Buzz It.
3. Google Toolbar : Well, this was a surprise by Google, when they launched this button for their toolbar, which suggests users various websites related to the search terms and according to the web history of your profile. Well, although it is not a toolbar as such, but it does qualify in this post, because this post is about discovering content and this button actually does the same.
Well, all in all all these three toolbars can help you find interesting content for you to read, view and share with others. This will not only, help you come out of boredom but it will also help you increasing the knowledge (provided that’s your interest).
Sponsors : Running a site has never been cheaper. From setting up a site to marketing it, the prices have hit rock bottom. The revolution is brought by big companies like godaddy, a web hosting gaint, who not only provide cheap web hosting services but you can also buy domains from them. Then to operate the site you obviously need a fast broadband connections, these can generally be found for free for a limited time. Marketing due to so much competition, has too become very cheap. You can find everything at all price ranges, from a bit more affective marketing such as ppc marketing to a more wide spread marketing like affiliate marketing to something more direct like email advertising.

Wikimedia foundation and Linterweb have together announced the first version of Wikipedia on a DVD. This DVD will contain handpicked article (almost 2000 articles) and is going to cost around $ 14.00. At this point of time, only the English version is available, but it is said by the companies that most likely the French version will also be shipped shortly.
Now, considering the fact that Wikipedia English (which is available for free online) has got 1,731,000 + articles in it and the DVD is going to have just 2000 articles, then I think that it is not going to be the best of the deal which one can get. What do you have to say about this offer, do you really think that it will be able to build a huge success as Wikipedia online is making ?
Note : In case you are wondering about which all articles are included in the DVD, then you can always go through the list of articles over here.

Lot is happening at GooglePlex and it seems that Google is playing big at the time of Web 2.0 Expo. Google Presently, Charts functionality and what not. So, after all the buzz in Google docs & spreadsheet, how can we expect that Google will not create the buzz for Youtube!
It has been announced that Youtube will soon launch the filtering technology, with the help of which it will be easy to detect the copyrighted material. I hope that we can get this technology as fast as possible, after all that will not only keep things clean at YouTube, but it will keep Google away from those nasty law suites!
Apart from that, YouTube seems to interested in sharing the advertising revenue with its users and that too at the ratio of 50-50. Well, just imagine that if that happens then how much money will be earned by the top videos. Most likely, it will be launched by next week and I’m sure that lot of videos will be created and that will make Youtube even much more bigger than what it is at this point of time.
No wonder that Youtube which is lying at 4th place according to the Alexa Rank and the constant traffic growth also proves that. Now, imagine that the services, like Yahoo & MSN which are not sharing the revenue with users are capturing the top places and also, there is a constant traffic for these services and a small dip in the Yahoo’s traffic. But, if take the example of Youtube, its traffic has increased and increased and hardly it has gone down.

So, revenue sharing will certainly attract many users and that will help Youtube in beating Yahoo & MSN and we can expect that soon there will be a big upset in the traffic rankings chart. Although, I’m talking about the traffic change which is almost three times of what Youtube is getting now (as shown in the above graph), but if we notice, that it is Youtube only who’s graph is rising constantly and that makes me believe that youtube will be able to reach the number 1 position soon!
