Many unfortunate users are effected from the Skype’s outage and there are few things which we can learn from this and ensure that we don’t effect our business by completely depending on one technology.
Although, Skype team has done a great job by keeping the users informed about the status of the service in their blog and so at least, it gives a bit of relief to everyone that things
will be sorted out pretty quickly, but is that good enough if you are losing business ? I guess the answer will be NO and it is proved by the comments you see in that post too. I know many people who use Skype all the time and it is their main source of communication and with the help of SkypeIN service, I’m sure that they must be feeling pretty handicapped at this moment. The only thing I can say is that Never depend on one technology.
There are other services available which provide the similar kind of service (SkypeIN type) and I think one can always use others too. If you need two three IN numbers then I’ll suggest keeping at least 1 number with other services too. Yahoo offers such a service and with a great track record of no downtime at all, you’ve got every reason to believe this service. Gizmo Project offers such kind of service and it can be used as an alternative too.

Well, I was thinking of writing The 7 habits of highly effective bloggers but it seems that Skellie was fast enough and she wrote a post with same headline as a guest post at Daily Blog Tips. So, then I thought that why not write a post which will highlight the habits of ineffective bloggers and so here they are :
1. They don’t work on a niche : They’ll post about something today and something the other day and will have all sort of jumbled topics across the blog. This will ensure that they’ll not have a topic in which they provide some useful information and thus readers will love to leave their blog soon.
2. They post what they like : They’ll post about anything which they like and will only post what they see. They don’t take pain to research and their posts and you won’t find any Pillar posts on their blog.
3. They don’t take pain to chose the headline : They’ll just keep the headlines simple and the ones which don’t catch attention. That ways the posts just go away from the eyes of the readers. Effective headlines also help in getting lot of diggs and that’s said by most of the people however, Ben has given a great post on the importance of headlines.
4. They fail to give proper credits : Ineffective blogger will always copy content and ideas from other sources and will not reveal the real source. I think there is not harm in revealing the source as it just increases your credibility and readers trust you more.

FaceBook which has become the choice of social network for many because of the clean interface and some great hype which it managed to create. Anyway, FaceBook allows developers to create applications which work on FaceBook and there are many applications which provide great usability and thus makes FaceBook a productive network too.
Zoho the online office service has created the FaceBook app and has integrated three main products i.e. Zoho writer, Zoho sheet and Zoho show. This allows you to create, edit and view various office documents and share those documents with your friends on FaceBook.
Similarly ThinkFree has released the FaceBook app and again, it provides the same functionality i.e. it allows you to view, edit and create new office document files from FaceBook only.
However, both the companies have actually failed in one place and i.e. integrating the FaceBook login with their services. You still need a login for the individual services although, you just need to login once and that’s it but what’s the big use of this app for FaceBook users, if they have to create another login.

On the eve of Independence day, People interactive has finally given independence to the long awaited makaan.com. Makaan.com looks impressive portal and it will be interesting to see that how they’ll compete with existing bigger players i.e. 99acres.com and MagicBricks.com
The impressive thing about Makaan.com is that how they are highlighting your property and the ways through which they allow you to advertise yourself across the whole site. You as an Individual can get advertised on the search results specific to certain cities or where your property is listed.
From the usability point of view makaan.com looks really good. They’ve made sure that a property searchers gets to their desired property in the quickest way. One feature which I liked the most was that they allow you to send the SMS to the concerned person by just filling out a simple form. Let’s say you are interested in a property and you want to contact that person, then you can simply select the option of SMS and the person will be notified that you are interested in the property and will get the options to contact you.
