Dino has fallen in love with screen capture softwares and here is another one reviewed!
Just as the name suggests, Easy Screen Capture Video is a tool that makes capturing your screen activity and storing it as a video file a matter of couple of clicks.
Pros of Easy Screen Capture Video :
When it starts, the only two things that draw your attention are the REC and the STOP buttons. For a layman that is all he needs. As for those who want more options, the OPTIONS and REGION menus have enough to offer. You can fine tune your compressor as well as select the desired playback and capture rates. The software can be run in Region Capture or Full Screen Capture modes.

Cons of Easy Screen Capture Video :

Even though Linux is highly secure OS , you’ll still find viruses for it. Linux users are doubling per year as seen in the recent news . As the number of users have started to increase, we can expect the increase in viruses too.
Available Viruses:
Linux.Bliss, Linux.Diesel, Linux.Gildo, Linux.Kagob, Linux.Nuxbee, Linux.Satyr, Linux.Vit.4096, Linux.Winter, Linux.Zipworm are some of the viruses which are present for Linux.
Mainly these viruses are not memory resident ,they are parasitic in nature and will get in to a file and alter the size of the file. These viruses are not that harmful but prevention is better than cure.
Available AntiViruses for Linux :
1.Clam : is a well known open source anti virus toolkit. Clam is a Email based one, which check for virus on email gateways.Which is specifically designed for Linux systems.
2.Panda : Panda is a well know anti-virus vendor for Windows and they’ve released the Linux version too .It works only with Redhat, SuSE ,Mandrake and Debian as mentioned on their website.
3.AVG : Its open source anti virus, AVG has the best detection among freely available AntiViruses. It can be used with Redhat, SuSE, Mandrake and Debian.

The Software
Screen2exe is a screen capture utility which records onscreen activity as an EXE file.
Pros
1. Really Light - Just 424 KB !
2. Captures as EXE File - This is what makes it stand apart from others. While a video may not run on some systems in the absence of certain codecs or players, an EXE file is bound to run on any windows machine.
3. High Compression Ratio - While the compression might not be the highest as claimed by the makers, it does provide a decent figure indeed
4. Ease of Use - It starts like a step by step wizard asking you to fine tune the settings as per your requirements making it really user friendly

Cons
1. A non video output may be seen as a con by some.

Suggestion to makers
As an EXE file has its own benefits and a Video file its own, I would suggest an amalgamation of both these functions. That would make this software truly versatile and good for all needs.
Bottom Line
When it costs you neither disk space nor money, why not give it a nod?

While playing around with the date and time and while using the Chat function of Skype, I noticed something unusual. The unusual thing was that the chat messages were coming above the already written text. This happened because by mistake, I’d selected 11th October as the date but when I realized that it’s not 11th but 10th October so I changed the date but then Skype started acting funny. Here’s the screen shot :

If you notice closely you’ll see that the messages moved up as I changed the date back to 10th. Of course, this is because Skype works on the date and time pattern and saves the history but don’t you think that they should have the server based time ?
I know that not everyone specifies the time zone they are in, but what about those who do!
Anyway, out of curiosity I checked the same thing for Yahoo messenger and Google Talk too, only to find out that even they face few problems :
Yahoo messenger maintains future chats!
Here’s the screen shot which shows you the history of 11th even though today is 10th…again we need server based times!!!!

Google tells that 10th is 10th but its 1 day ago!
The good thing about Google was that it stores the chat history properly and utilizes the server based time. I’m glad that it knows what the correct date is but unfortunately because of the JavaScript’s it says that 10th (which is today) is 1 day ago!

I think these messenger services should make use of the time servers for those who have specified their time zones, but those who haven’t they may use the client side time and make use of the calendar time (even if it’s wrong).
