As I’ve mentioned before, that I’ve shifted to Ubuntu (not completely though, did a dual boot with Windows) and that I’m trying to ensure that I can live my life with an Open-Source based operating system.

So, I thought that there may be others who may be thinking that it can be a difficult task to live the life, while using Ubuntu.

However, I found it pretty simple to use and here are some of the good resources where you’ll be able to find some good support related to Ubuntu :

1. Ubuntu Clips

This is a great resource as it tells you all the things through the help of screen casts.

2. Ubuntu Forums

This is the official forum of ubuntu and if at all you feel trapped anywhere, you can post your question over here and the large community of Ubuntu lovers will be able to help you easily. However, most likely what ever you want to know, you’ll be able to find it easily while searching the forum.

Ok, here’s the new update! I’m done with Kubuntu and have decided that I won’t be using it again. The reasons why I decided not to use Kubuntu :

1. Crashed a lot (even had updated it to the latest version).
2. The screen resolution always switched itself back to 1600X1200.
3. Didn’t boot properly after an improper shutdown and had to run fsck regularly.

Now, after seeing the sad end of my experience with Kubuntu, I didn’t lose hope and guess what my journey to test Linux isn’t over yet. I’m using Ubuntu now!

We all know that how web filters make our lives difficult from accessing the web even though we want to use them to help in our work and not for wasting time on Orkut, Facebook or other social network sites.

Here are 5 simple ways of bypassing the web filters easily :

1. Using Opera Mini Emulator : If you want to access any website then this is the best way of doing it. Although, you will to adjust your eyes to a small screen but thanks to Opera Mini’s zoom feature, it isn’t that bad experience. Access Opera Mini from here.

2. SSL or secure sites are your friend : Secure sites are your friend when it comes to accessing the websites in a filtered environment. If at all, your work has blocked any website then try to access that site using this way. Instead of opening the site as http://www.some-site.com, open https://www.some-site.com

Firefox Rules! Opera is the fastest browser! Internet Explorer is best because it has the biggest market share!

Aren’t you tired with all this ? Well, which browser we use and which not is something of personal choice and if someone is happy in accessing the websites in distorted way (because it’s meant to be built for Internet Explorer only) then let them use it, why do you have to poke your nose in it?

The browser war all heated up again, after Opera decided to file AntiTrust complaint against Microsoft (for making the browser market as monopoly, as they provide IE only with Windows). Well, to all their credit, they’ve raised the voice on some solid point which was overlooked for so many years. I think it makes sense that if the users are given the choice of the browsers and let them decide which one they want to use.

As seen on Mashable, Microsoft replied back with this statement :

“We believe the inclusion of the (IE) browser into the operating system benefits consumers, and that consumers and PC manufacturers are already free to choose to use any browsers they wish. Internet Explorer has been an integral part of the Windows operating system for over a decade and supports a wide range of Web standards.

Well, I think Microsoft should have taken a positive approach. They should have agreed to install other browsers on OS and slapped the complaint of Opera. This would have proved that Microsoft is confident about their product and that they think that the market share is just not because of the fact that it’s pre-installed with windows.

What ever, happens I’ll say that I’m done with all these stupid things and I’ll say that let user be the judge of what they want to use. What about you ? Do you use a browser just because they market it well or you use it because you find it useful ?
