DeskAway is the product by Synage and is another product in the space of project management and is probably competing against Zoho, BaseCamp HQ. The service lets a team to manage the projects and collaborate with each other and it combines Blogs, calendar along with that too.
Now, if we see that is certainly possible with Zoho Projects or BaseCamp HQ then what exactly DeskAway is offering here ? Well, the interface is something I’ll say they’ve done an excellent job as not only it’s quite simple but it’s quite fast loading too. However, Zoho projects works a bit faster because they’ve made good use of Ajax and that gives you the feeling as if you are working on a desktop application.
Zoho beats DeskAway in terms of pricing however, with DeskAway you can manage up to 3 projects for free where as, with Zoho you can do just 1 project for free. So DeskAway is better in that aspect.

Here’s how I will sum up what I learned from the discussions and stories shared by leading entrepreneurs:
- Great work is inspired by great cause – think of what problem are you trying to solve.
- Dare to dream
- Find the right people with correct skill sets to start with rather than looking only at people whom you know.
- Bootstrapping is the best solution, get help from people you know or loans and keep funding as your next best option.
- Perseverance is a must – most entrepreneurs have been through stages where quitting was an easier option but they stuck to it and out through all the challenges.
- Entrepreneurship is all about ideas but its also important to know which one of the many ideas that come to one’s mind needs to be followed and the rest to be forgotten.
- Sometimes it is also important to know when to quit if you realize down the line that what you initially thought was not the best solution – the dream should be followed in the light of what you can solve rather than the fact that you have already put in so much efforts.
- Build values in your team from the beginning and also develop relationships with anybody whom your business touches.
- Building a business is like giving birth to a baby – if selling it off is your only motive then there is something seriously wrong
It’s not that I don’t realize what I heard that day, but its good to be reminded of it through people who have already been through these challenges and have come out successfully. And meeting other entrepreneurs makes you think that you are not the only one out there in the ocean (as it sometimes feel when you are sitting alone in the office) and gives us all some confidence back. TieCon makes a great platform for entrepreneurs and all of young business people like us – who are greatly benefited by coming in touch with eminent leaders. Sharing is believing!

Hover.in was one the most impressive startup at Proto.in 2008 and it’s a widget whose aim is to help publishers and content based websites in monetizing and providing related content for their readers.
Hover.in is the brain child of Bhasker V. Kode & Arun Prabhudesai, who is a problogger himself and writes on Indian business at Trak.in. The idea behind hover.in is that it displays related content and ads through various widget based applications in a bubble (like the bubble we see in SnapShots, Triggit etc.)
We can call hover.in a combination of SnapShots and Kontera ads however, the good thing about hover.in is that not only it combines both of them but it gives the power in the hands of publisher, so as a publisher you get the power to chose what exactly you want to display in the bubble. It can be Wikipedia articles, Flickr images, youtube videos or even Google ads.

InstaBlogs is not a startup really, as they’ve already crossed 2 years and are already in profits but in order to scale up, they want funding and that’s why they decided to showcase InstaBlogs in Proto.in 2008 in front of the VCs and the entrepreneur’s.
InstaBlogs was started by Ankit and his wife Nandini Maheshwari and became the first blog network of India, although now it has gone past that stage of a blog network as now it’s more like a blogging platform where anyone can go and open an account and start maintaining a blog.
The unique selling point of instablogs is that they have got a good community around their blogs from various parts of the world and they all engage in conversations and thus it really proves that InstaBlogs is bringing bloggers and readers closer.
