I’ve got a small problem with OS X and that is that OS X doesn’t have the Programs like menu, where it lists all the installed applications. Fine most of the applications are listed in the applications folder but still many utilities are such which are present in other areas of the system and if I don’t know the name of that utility then I’ve got no way to access it!

I guess it was stupid of Apple for not providing such a menu in the Apple Menu! I’m not sure about others but certainly it’s not present in my OS X (Leopard).

So here comes my suggestions to address the problem which we just discussed above :

flexadex.jpgLooking to store the data from an old, tearing telephone index online? Here is a way to go about doing it without restricting the data in each record, using Flexadex.

Flexadex features:

  • It’s an online address book available for free (free service is available for up to 1000 contacts)
  • Add, store, manage all your contacts from anywhere.
  • No need to install any software whatsoever and the application opens on your web browser.
  • Each record here will have a note-pad like page wherein you can store any data about the person. There aren’t specific fields, but there is a title and lots of content space where you could add whatever data you want to.
  • There is also an email option, where you can manage things from your email account.
  • Visit www.flexadex.com/mobile to access, search and manage your Flexadex address book from mobile.
  • All the entries stored are arranged in alphabetical order and also can be searched for very easily.
  • You can also download the data and store it or import data from a .vcf file.

threadeathIf you are a blogger, then you know the pain of increasing the traffic and if you are a blogger like me, who by default nature fails to include links in the posts, then you should consider using various widgets which display your bookmarks. There are various widgets for almost all the blog platforms and as you’ll be displaying links to other blogs then the possibility of them coming to your blog will increase a lot!

Too many outbound links are bad for SEO of my blog!

I used to think the same but then I realized that the game of SEO is really for those who are not into updating their websites regularly. As a blogger you should not be worrying too much about SEO and if you are using WordPress then a little bit of work around will solve most of the problems and no need of SEO will be required.

Can you suggest me some of the social media sharing widgets ?

This is a kind of follow up post on what was a small mistake from me or should I say a waste of time by me! I applied too much head and found that how we can create videocasts for free with the help of Skype and Jing! Thanks to Ramanujam, who dragged my attention towards iMovie (not that I didn’t know about it) and informed that iMovie can create videos and that Skype-Jing duo trick is really not required!

I’m not sure whom to blame for this as I can’t imagine me missing such small thing! I guess it’s just the Mac experience of an experienced windows user. So here’s the simple way of create videocasts using iMovie :

One thing every Windows user is quite familiar with is Task Manager. Windows users have a habit of opening up task manager quite a lot and the reason is quite simple – Applications do freeze frequently on Windows. Well, don’t think my love for windows is getting over, I’m still big supporter of Microsoft Windows.

Small Rant : One thing I’m feeling pretty odd in OS X is that it doesn’t have Applications menu (All Programs like menu) anywhere and so I find it quite difficult to see that which all applications are available by default.

Coming back to my main topic, I was feeling quite odd that I hadn’t opened up any system performance checking software and I always love to check that which software uses how much memory, after all i’ve got traits of a reviewer!

Thanks to Quick Silver as it suggests the applications as soon as you type one alphabet and while doing that I found out the applications which tell me more about OS X & system resources :
