Those days are gone when people who thought of owning a Mac had to look twice at their pockets , just because the Mac wasn’t the most affordable computer as at the same price one could get a computer with better specifications and of course, came with Windows which is by far, most used operating system.
When Apple decided that instead of using Motorola’s processor they’ll prefer to use Intel based processors and everybody speculated that soon the market will change tremendously and that Apple will become a software based company rather than a company which will keep on selling the custom built PCs.
However, Apple on the contrary kept itself on the same strategy and didn’t convert itself into a software based company. They even don’t allow people to install OS X operating system and rather mention this in the terms and conditions :
You agree not to install, use or run the Apple Software on any non-Apple-labeled computer, or to enable others to do so,” explains Apple’s license for Leopard.
Even after this, a company called Psystar has launched a desktop computer which will have pre-installed Mac OS X (Leopard) with decent configurations for just $ 399 only.

When it comes to innovation we all look at companies like Google, Yahoo and various new startups, which change the course of the internet with their exuberance and hunger of changing the world. However there is another aspect of internet and that is the bad side of it and I’m really impressed with the kind of innovative ideas they come up with.
Recently, I started getting various reminder through Google calendar which invited me in some kind of an event and when I saw them and read the content, the only word which came out of my mouth was SPAM!
I was astonished to see that how the spammers have found a great (and probably a security hole) way to reach to the target’s inbox. Because the reminder comes directly from Google Calendar the chances of it hitting the inbox are much higher than conventional way of sending the spam.
The message is an invitation to an event and asks you if you want to attend it or not, the moment you’ll select Yes or No, the spammer will get the notification that you have got a real email address and that you can be targeted next time too.

As a blogger or an information junkie, one wants to stay ahead of the others and we use every possible software or service to achieve this task. RSS feeds of News portals, Blogs, Google alerts and what not! There are so many services through which we want to stay ahead….I forget most of the times that which all services can help us in such a situation.
Anyway, if you are looking for some more ways of aggregating information then add Summize twitter search to your list of tools. This Twitter search is an excellent tool and searches through twitter (you can also search tweets made to or from a particular user) and shows you all the tweets based on that keyword.

There is an excellent conversation going on at Read/Write Web where Marshall Kirkpatrick discusses that is the mobile web dead or not ? He got this conversation started because Russell Beatie (founder of mowser)is convinced that mobile web is not growing the way it was speculated and rather it’s declining at a fast pace.
The conversation really took a better shape with Jason Grigsby’s comment where he said that the mobile web which Russell was pointing was more towards the mobile web applications based on Pre-iPhone phones and not the ones which are coming up with bigger/wider screens and have got all the way better web browsers. Well said Jason!
First, when Russell says Mobile Web, he is narrowly defining it as “developing sites using XHTML-MP markup, no Javascript, geared towards cellular connections and two inch screens are simply wasting their time.” Basically, he is describing building sites for pre-iPhone mobile devices.
Well, personally I don’t use mobile phones for accessing the web and the reason is simple, I don’t have a mobile phone which can access the web as I still prefer a phone which can do the talking and nothing fancy. However, I can certainly say that mobile web is far from being dead, rather it’s still in a stage where we are waiting for more and more people to adopt the phones which are capable of doing more things using cell-phones.
To be honest I feel that it’s really Nokia’s N- 95 and Apple’s iPhone which really qualify or are in a position, from where mobile web will start. Companies like Google, Yahoo & Microsoft are actively spending their time and effort in making the mobile experience better and companies like Nokia, Apple and Motorola are doing well to come up with smart phones which will make mobile web a regular habit in future.

Tim O’ Reilly by Thomas Hawk
After every few days we see a new web based applications coming up and stirring the web just because TechCrunch or Read/Write Web gave a positive response to them and wrote an excellent marketing pitch for them. I’ve been an advanced computer user from long time, however it was recently that I got a laptop for myself and started to get mobile and now what I’ve been noticing is completely different than what I used to feel while using the desktop.
While I was on desktop, I preferred more online or web based applications as it gave me lot of flexibility and I didn’t have to depend on my computer and was free to go anywhere and get access to my files where ever I wanted. However after getting the laptop I see a change in my computer usage and I’ve started to prefer more desktop based applications, the reason is simple : Mobility.
I get all the mobility while using the laptop and have started to shift to desktop based applications although I still prefer a lot of online web applications just because I’ve gotten used to them but most of the applications which I use are now desktop based. Well, to even correct the statement, I’m shifting more towards the applications which are desktop based but can connect to the internet and do the task for me.
