We all know that Orkut has the biggest number of members from Brazil and is an all time hit over there. But, there are some evidence which makes me believe that India may be the place from where it may have its second biggest share.

1. Open Signups in India : Amit Agrawal found out that orkut opened up the signups for all. But when I checked it, I found out that it was not the case and I was still not getting the option of signing up. Although, I already have Orkut account. But, could’nt find the signup page. Now, it is to be noted that I was not able to get the signup screen when I was at my workplace and I get the access of United Kingdom (although, I am in India only, to give you a clue, it is possible through Citrix) when I am at work but I was able to get the signup screen when I was at my home (i.e. India)

So, This means that they have opened up the registration page only in India or may be some other countries too but another reason due to which, It made me believe that they may be enjoying Indian users is……

2. Orkut Celebrates Diwali : Diwali or Deepawali is one the biggest festivals in India and on this day people light candles and fire crackers. Diwali is also considered as festival of light and I think Orkut has found a way to please the Indians :

Orkut celebrates diwali

If you notice that this Orkut homepage has the word Orkut modified. It was on their homepage today (its diwali today). The letter O has some bulbs around it which means light and the whole word ORKUT is having the colors of India’s National Flag.

So, I think that it India must have been providing a good amount of user group to Orkut and that’s why Google is doing all these things to please Indians. What do you think about it? Anyway, Happy Diwali to everyone. May God Bring all the happiness and wealth in everbodies lives.
