Google has rolled out a new feature in Google Co-op, where it allows users to create their own search engine and gives Social twist in it too. Now, anyone can create the search engine and define the sites in it and has the option of crawling the whole web or specifically the sites mentioned in the search engine.

It lets the search engine manager to assign moderators as well, for e.g. I’ve created my own search engine which you can visit over here : ReviewSaurus’s Search engine, and then you can apply for the poistion of a volunteer and contribute in the search engine.

In order to create your own search engine, please follow these steps :

1. Go to Google Co-op homepage.
2. Click on Custom search engine under Create Your Own Search Engine.
3. Click on Create a search engine button.
4. Fill out the form & you’ll have your own search engine.

This is certainly nice but I don’t see any point in creating a search engine like this. Because, one can always integrate a search engine through Google adsense and that serves the purpose. But anyway, it is all good for Google as they are getting the free advertising as always :)
