Google is opening up Gmail for many countries and that too slowly and steadily. While checking the email today, I noticed that Google has opened up the sign ups for India too. And anyone in India can sign up for Gmail account.
However, unlike U.K. Google is not promoting Gmail and not displaying its features, which was noticed by Ionut. I think that Google will now be stormed with the sign ups and everyone will rush towards getting one Gmail account for themselves. Now, the reason for that is not only the space but yes the capability of catching spam as well (Just as mentioned in the post by Ionut).

Yeah, I noticed the signup box while logging in.. I personally don’t think it mark any such importance because everyone has a gmail address here in India (Atleast)
