Mark Russinovich (Co-founder of Sysinternals.com and later became employee of Microsoft when Microsoft took over sysinternals), has given a great suggestion for Google Desktop search. He says that Google Desktop search needs to provide various options in the search software as it fails to provide lots of required options like :

  • File types
  • Directories
  • Date ranges
  • Volumes

He refers to this answer from Google desktop help where in, Google says that the search software will only index partial text of the documents and will not index them fully. Not just that, even though it indexes only some part of the documents, various people are complaining about the size of the index file. Mark gives the example of his own computer and says that index file is taking
