Google has planned that they’ll shut down Lively, their 3d chat room service. All tech pundits thought that Google was trying to make Lively as the competition to Second Life, however it seems that Google realized that it was just too tough for them to bring Lively to the same level as Second Life is.

It’s funny that Lively which was released this year only will not be able to even complete 1 year and will be shut down by the search engine giant. The service will continue till 31st december, 2008 and then will be inaccessible to anyone.

Here’s what the google blog post says -

It has been a tough decision, but we want to ensure that we prioritize our resources and focus more on our core search, ads and apps business. Lively.com will be discontinued at the end of December

If Google realized that then I think it’s good although, it definitely was one good looking tool to play with and I’m sure Google would only have got more and more information to organize (that’s their motto) if they would have continued the service.
