How to beat Orkut’s 12 photo limit!

  05 Jun 2007 by ReviewSaurus

OrkutOrkut has got the limit of 12 photos when it comes to uploading photos and so for those people, who love to show off their photographs, its not the best way of showing more and more photos to your friends and loved ones. But, now there is a trick through which you can beat this limit of 12 photos!

With the recent addition of displaying RSS feeds in your Orkut profile feature, you can show more and more pictures of yours and that too by following couple of steps. Here’s what you can do to share the pictures :

  1. Open your orkut profile.
  2. On the left you’ll notice EDIT FEEDS…click on it.
  3. You’ll see a section where it will say URL…in that box type the address of the RSS feed of your image hosting service. I’ll suggest http://www.Flickr.com to any one for uploading the photos or may be make use of Google’s Picasa web albums to upload your photographs (it you use this one then it will be easier for you to integrate the photos) but if you use Flickr then you’ll need to get the RSS feed address and put it in the URL field.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Now it will ask you to put some characters in a box, just put those to verify.
  6. Done!

Just in case you find any difficulties or if you are not sure how you can find the RSS feed of your photo sharing service, then feel free to post the query in the comments and I’ll love to help you out in that . So, happy orkuting and happy photo sharing ahead

    Hey Mayank

The new feature introduction also comes with Picassa photo display. You could rather use that as well..

    Hey Anand,

Thanks for stopping by. Yup it comes with Picasa too and it is much easier to add that one as compared to Flickr. But I said flickr because I use Flickr apart from http://slide.com

very less people know about rss (talking about the orkutters, non techies) but indeed when looking at a profile i think links for thier feeds added should be highlighted in some way (that calls for a redesign thought) lol

  9. reviewsaurus July 2, 2007 6:26 pm

@ Sindhu : I think you and me are made for each other :D I was thinking on the same terms. They need to actually highlight it somehow. Maybe putting it somewhere near the scraps link…(at the top, that’s the maximum used area)

like “2 feeds” ? Then Orkut will get spammed

  11. reviewsaurus July 2, 2007 8:28 pm

@ ben : No, that won’t get orkut spammed. Do you think facebook is spammed in any way?

  12. benedict herold July 2, 2007 10:17 pm

Facebook was not spammed because of the way the system was designed; you might be aware Facebook was made available for everyone only couple of months back. Moreover, privacy of user information is well maintained. But the case with Orkut / MySpace is entirely different; I used to get more number of spam friend request in MySpace rather than the true request. Think of Orkut too… don’t you get spammed with fake profiles? if the feeds are given more importance then there will be lot of fake profiles created for marketing those RSS feed :-)

how can i get the rss address???

  15. ReviewSaurus October 25, 2007 1:22 pm

Bijitdas, in order to get the RSS address you’ll need to go to flickr and then simply go to your photos by clicking on YOU link on the top.

Once you get to that page…scroll down to the bottom and you’ll see Subscribe to (your username’s) feed and you’ll see three links…just right click on the link which says LATEST and select COPY LINK LOCATION and that address is the RSS address.

Also now the limit of Orkut is not 12 you can upload 50 photos now…and some have reported that it is now 100 but I’ve not tested it yet.
