Here’s what you can do to ensure that your computer stays free from viruses and on top of it, if at all your computer gets infected then also, you’ll be able to save your data.

1. Keep the data on other partitions : Always make sure that you keep all the files on hard disk partition other than the windows one. This way, if the virus hits that drive then the data on the other drive will be still safe. Although the viruses have become smart but still it’s still better. Here’s the guide to keep the My Documents in other drive, in case you use My Documents a lot.

2. Install 1st level of Anti-virus : I’m a big supporter of installing two anti-virus software. Although, many people just don’t except it but believe me do the way I’m suggesting you and feel more safe and secure. Download AVG Free anti-virus and install it as normal with all the features enabled.

3. Install 2nd level of Anti-virus : Download Avast free anti-virus however, ensure that you disable its real time scanner. Disable each and every option of automatic scan, email scan, Internet scanner or just about any scanner because we want to use it as On-Demand scanner only and so, schedule it to scan the computer once every week.

4. Install a firewall : Install a free firewall software to ensure that you keep yourself away from those Trojans and hack attacks which we normally don’t come to know without installing a firewall. Comodo firewall pro is a very good firewall software and completely free of cost.

5. Install an anti-rootkit software : Rootkits will be the biggest threat in future. Although they are still not out at huge scale but still its better to keep a software running to stay safe from these pesky little and dangerous stuff. AVG’s free anti-rootkit is recommended by me.

Well, as more and more widgets are provided to bloggers and each widget seem to carry some sort of usefulness we tend to install them and use them on our blogs. But, at the end of the day, we realize that the page looks more cluttered as all the widgets don’t match the theme and go with the theme but if we look at them separately then they just go OK with the theme.

So, in order to avoid this kind of situation we can make use of the following trick and put them in such a way that they don’t clutter the post page and on top of it, will be seen by only those people, who actually want to use them…

What we want to achieve is something like this :

related-posts
(Related posts in the 1st tab)
recommended-software
(Recommended Software in the 2nd tab)

With these kind of Tabs we can ensure that we can save on lot of space and as I said before that only curious people will dig more into these tabs and will make use of it.

How to put these Tabs on post pages ?

We all know that how important traffic is for our websites and how much important role search engines play, when it comes to traffic. Now, the question is that how we can drive traffic to our websites using Google Image Search or how well we can optimize our images to drive traffic from the image search engines?

Here are some of the tips which will certainly help you in driving traffic, although it will not be huge but still any traffic on the website is useful!

1. Name the images well : When it comes to naming of the images, we really don’t care much and most of the times we’ll name them as 1.jpg, 2.jpg but if we name them well then the name of the image acts as a keyword and can be vital in appearing on top of the image search results. For e.g. if you have an image which is of a Kingfisher then instead of naming the image as 1.jpg try to name it as kingfisher.jpg.

2. Include Hyphen in name of images : Again, when it comes to naming of the images, its good to include as many as keywords you want but it will be even better if you include a hyphen in between those keywords. Taking the example of the Kingfisher again, I’ll say that it will be the best if you name it kingfisher-bird.jpg.

3. Make sure that you enter the ALT data : Don’t forget to include the ALT data of the images. Image search engines do rely heavily on that information and if you key in important keywords then it will be certainly of great help!

Windows Update sucks and we all know that and thanks to those developers who’ve taken time but finally realized that this section also needs quite some attention. Thankfully there are 5 tools which help us in updating not only windows but various other important applications as well!

Here is the list of the applications, some update other softwares too but some are just stuck with Windows but none the less are better than Windows Update :

1. The Software Patch : This site lists the most critical updates for Microsoft Windows XP and above. It also lists the updates of hardware drivers and various office applications.

2. AutoPatcher : Although, AutoPatcher is history but this great program deserves each and every mention. You can still find AutoPatcher from other sources ;) but it won’t be updated any more. Although, Antonis has promised that he’ll be launching a comparable utility soon, but until it’s released we can’t really say much.

3. WindizUpdate : This is one of my favorite windows update utility. I covered it back when I launched ReviewSaurus but I guess it still needs more attention and love from our side. It’s a FireFox extension and must have for those who don’t like to use Microsoft Windows.
