TipsoSaurus reader, Don Rogers has asked a question that he forgot the password of his email account which he’d setup in Outlook as it is already saved in Outlook. Now, he wants to reconfigure the account in Outlook but can’t do it as he forgot the password.

Here are few things which you may try to fix up the problem :

1. Forgot password recovery : This is the simplest thing you can try and I.e. by getting in touch with the ISP or email service provider and make use of the forgot password recovery option. Or by calling the technical support, if at all they have one.

2. Using the password retrieval utilities : NirSoft provides the utility which can retrieve password from Microsoft Outlook and supports almost all the version of Microsoft Outlook even Outlook 2007. Note : Some anti-virus software may trigger false alarms against this utility but it’s safe to use it. I’ve used it personally and it works!

3. Unmask the password behind asterisks : Nucleus Technologies is providing the free utility which unmasks the password behind asterisks and that should simply solve the problem. Just open up the account settings window and it will show you the saved password.

confidence
(Image source : Confidence Course Oberon by Scott. Thanks Scott!)

I was having a word with one of my friend today and during whole conversation, I felt that he lacked on one point and that was self confidence. All the way, he was comparing himself from those people who were successful in his field of work, people around him. And he was just keeping himself “low” from them.

Well, it’s the self confidence which can make and break things. This thing applies in blogging too. Feel confident about the things you do and don’t just think that because other’s are doing well, then you are any less than them. You are equally good and it’s only you who can realize that where exactly you are good.

Here are few things which you should follow when you are losing self confidence :

1. Stop thinking that what other are achieving : Instead think that what is making them achieve that success and then work on those areas and try to gain that same success.

2. Think on the lines, where you are lacking but don’t make them the hurdle in your success : Instead, think that how you can improve on those weak points. No body is perfect and no one will ever be, so if you do lack somewhere, you just have to think that do you really lack or do other are making you feel that. If at all you think that yes, you do lack in a particular area, then go ahead and work on it.

Many unfortunate users are effected from the Skype’s outage and there are few things which we can learn from this and ensure that we don’t effect our business by completely depending on one technology.

Although, Skype team has done a great job by keeping the users informed about the status of the service in their blog and so at least, it gives a bit of relief to everyone that things skype will be sorted out pretty quickly, but is that good enough if you are losing business ? I guess the answer will be NO and it is proved by the comments you see in that post too. I know many people who use Skype all the time and it is their main source of communication and with the help of SkypeIN service, I’m sure that they must be feeling pretty handicapped at this moment. The only thing I can say is that Never depend on one technology.

There are other services available which provide the similar kind of service (SkypeIN type) and I think one can always use others too. If you need two three IN numbers then I’ll suggest keeping at least 1 number with other services too. Yahoo offers such a service and with a great track record of no downtime at all, you’ve got every reason to believe this service. Gizmo Project offers such kind of service and it can be used as an alternative too.

Well, I was thinking of writing The 7 habits of highly effective bloggers but it seems that Skellie was fast enough and she wrote a post with same headline as a guest post at Daily Blog Tips. So, then I thought that why not write a post which will highlight the habits of ineffective bloggers and so here they are :

1. They don’t work on a niche : They’ll post about something today and something the other day and will have all sort of jumbled topics across the blog. This will ensure that they’ll not have a topic in which they provide some useful information and thus readers will love to leave their blog soon.

2. They post what they like : They’ll post about anything which they like and will only post what they see. They don’t take pain to research and their posts and you won’t find any Pillar posts on their blog.

3. They don’t take pain to chose the headline : They’ll just keep the headlines simple and the ones which don’t catch attention. That ways the posts just go away from the eyes of the readers. Effective headlines also help in getting lot of diggs and that’s said by most of the people however, Ben has given a great post on the importance of headlines.

4. They fail to give proper credits : Ineffective blogger will always copy content and ideas from other sources and will not reveal the real source. I think there is not harm in revealing the source as it just increases your credibility and readers trust you more.
