Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 by KK+
As the web is changing we notice that web developers are concentrating on making the websites compatible to both Firefox and Internet Explorer and as we see that every year, the percentage of Firefox users are increasing.
Lot of people ask me that now they are happy with Firefox and they want to simply block Internet Explorer so that no one else (on a shared computer) uses the Internet Explorer. Well, there are 4 ways denying access to Internet Explorer and depending on the other persons tech knowledge you can apply any one of these ways. Here are the ways of disabling Internet Explorer :
1. Through a firewall : The most known way of denying the Internet access to any program is through Firewall. Using any third party firewall, simply deny the access to Internet Explorer.
2. Through Proxy Settings : There are few steps involved in removing the access of Internet access through this way and here are steps :
a) Open Internet Explorer
b) Go to Tools-> Internet Options
c) Go to Connections tab
d) Click on LAN Settings button
e) Tick the box which says Use a proxy server for your LAN…..
f) Under Address type 0.0.0.0 and then click OK where ever you get OK.
g) That will remove the access just follow the steps and Un-tick the box if you want to give the access back.
3. Removing Internet Explorer from Desktop and start menu : Well, this won’t remove the Internet Explorer from your machine but will remove the shortcuts from the common places. For this either remove the icon manually or follow these steps :
a) Go to Control Panel (click on Start and then Control Panel).
b) Open Add/Remove Programs
c) Click on Add/Remove Windows Components (on the left, most likely 3nd icon)
d) Find Internet Explorer and Un-tick it.
e) Click on Next and then Finish.
4. Through Set Program Access and Defaults : You can deny the access to IE by following these steps as well…
a) Go to Control Panel (click on Start and then Control Panel).
b) Open Add/Remove Programs
c) Click on Set Program Access and Defaults (on the left, most likely 4th icon)
d) Click on Custom
e) Un-tick Enable Access to this program in front of Internet Explorer
Do you know any other way of denying the access of Internet to Internet Explorer? I’m sure there will be few more which FireFox or Opera lovers will love to share it with us!
