Thanks for the post. I find that the easiest thing to do is email the hosting service. I've had three or four sites stealing my content. All the hosting services were very polite to me and helpful and those sites were gone within days. The only one I'm having trouble with now is a site hosted on GoDaddy. GoDaddy doesn't seem to be too interested in helping me. But I'm not going to give up. If anyone has some suggestions, let me know.

The solution is fortunately very simple, send GoDaddy a DMCA notice. If you do that they should take the work down with no questions.

I have no clue why they are talking about filing copyright registrations as that is completely unnecessary. The vast majority of copyright protected work is not registered and registration is not a requirement for protection under the law.

If you need a template for a full notice, I have them on my site under “Stock Letter”. If you need any help, just send me an email. and I’ll see what I can do!

I privately tried emailing the guy, I did all the above mentioned measures, but seems like this guy is way too lucky!

I’m drafting a DMCA Report, and I want you guys to do the same. Don’t worry, nothing much will happen. I do this all the time…

but you’ll have to spend some 250 bucks on faxing.

@ Dj : The solution is not to ignore this. Will you ignore, if someone comes to your house and steals stuff ?
I’m sure you won’t like that either. There has to be something which needs to be done against this. Registered commons seems good but unfortunately they don’t have active members…at least that’s what I can make out by looking at their wiki :(

Oh well my blog has been suffering from the same disease

and I use the “ignore” therapy to help my mind

after all you can’t remove the dirt of nature completely now can you?

Perhaps we are all helpless at some point.
