firefox-gmail-conversation

There has been quite a few word about the New version of Gmail already as the lucky ones got it faster than me. Anyway, they all have spoken about its enhancement of the way it fetches the email messages and the new contact manager.

However, one more thing which is noticeable is that with this new version of Gmail it doesn’t make Firefox a memory hog! There were many posts and my own personal experience is that whenever Gmail use to check for new messages, Firefox’s memory consumption used to shoot up a lot and that made it work slow.

Apart from that, the unfortunate thing is that the Better Gmail extension doesn’t work anymore with this new version of Gmail and it won’t work until and unless all the Greasemonkey scripts used by Gmail gets updated to work with this new version. Although, Mihai has updated the Macros for new Gmail version and I’m sure most of the people will be happy to work with this updated script!

I’m loving this new version of Gmail as I like it’s contact manager and the way it now makes the contacts more interactive once we hover the mouse to the contact.

Older Gmail version hogs memory? I didn’t know that. Will do testing after this. Thanks and thanks for the linkback. :)

Thats very true, sometimes my old system used to hang up, and we need to forcefully close firefox, but the new version is cool, much faster, but it is only compatible with ie7 and firefox.
have you tried it on opera, netscape, flock and other???

You’ve done a pretty good job of showing Rajat’s email ID :D

I guess its ok, since GMail’s spam filters are good.
