How to send exe files using Gmail!

gmail If you are a Gmail user, you probably know that Gmail doesn’t allow you to send the executable files at all and even if you compress the exe file in a zip file, you won’t be able to send it. So, here are some of the ways of sending the exe files through Gmail :

1. Rename the extension of the file from exe to doc. For e.g. if the file name is abcd.exe then simply rename it to abcd.doc and then upload it and send it!

2. Instead of compressing the file as ZIP, compress it in some other format for e.g. RAR. If your friend can open up the RAR files then you can easily compress it as RAR and sent it!

3. Simply upload it to some free file hosting service like Rapidshare or DivShare and then send the link to the file to the friend.

All these steps are simple and you should not have any problem, but if at all you do face any problem, then feel free to leave a comment in the comment area and we’ll help you in fixing it.

The person on the other end most know how to rename it back to .exe. This is not an issue if you send it to a techie – but for normal people, its more troublesome.

The other solutions should work fine.

I personally don’t like using e-mail for larger files or for anything besides basic documents and images. I usually SFTP the files to my shell account or something similar, depending on the technical skills of the receiver. If nothing else, I suppose I would use #3.
