Simplest way of enabling Read/Write of Linux Partitions in Windows!

  15 Jan 2008 by TipsoSaurus

There are many ways of reading the linux partitions in windows, however there are pretty less ways of writing on it. Ext2fsd is an excellent software which helps you in accessing the ext2 & ext3 partitions in windows and even lets you write the files on it too.

You can access those partitions just like you access any other partition (FAT or NTFS) in windows. Here are some of the quick tips of configuring Ex2Fsd :

ext2fsd 1. While installing Ext2Fsd, it will ask you that if you need the support for writing to the partitions or not. Ensure you check all three check boxes including ext3 too.

2. After you have installed Ext2Fsd, assign the drive letter to each of the Ext2 & Ext3 partition which you see under the volume manager.

3. Then go to File->Install Ext2Mgr as service.

4. go to Tools->Service management and click Start service in that.

That’s it! Now open up My computer and you’ll be able to see the new drives and you can access all the files and yeah, you can write files too.

Note : It’s only available for NT, XP, Vista and is not for 98/ME (anyone still using them ?)
