There are cases when we want to Sync e-mail accounts between our computers. So, here are the steps which will help you shift your e-mail box from one computer to another computer of yours.
Instructions for ThunderBird : Terence Chang has given good description including images on how to Sync ThunderBird Profiles between two computers. This will also move the plug-ins which you may have installed in ThunderBird. So, you don’t have to worry about that too!
Instructions for Microsoft Outlook :
1. Export the Mailbox File from MS Outlook : Click on File -> Import and Export -> Select Export to a file -> Click Next -> Select Personal Folder File (.pst) -> Click Next -> Select Personal Folders in the tree (Top on the list) -> Tick Include Sub Folders –> Click Next -> Select the location where the back needs to be saved (most likely Desktop) -> Click Finish.
Here are the Step by step images for the exporting of PST file :

2. Move the file to other computer : Move the backed up file to the other computer either using the CD or DVD. If you have lots and lots of e-mails in outlook then the file size can be huge. So you may need a DVD too.
3. Import the Mailbox file in Outlook : Click on File -> Import and Export -> Select Import from another program or File -> Click Next -> Select Personal Folder File (.pst) -> Click Next -> Locate the Backup file -> Click Next -> Click Finish.
Here are the images for the step by step instructions :

This will import each and everything in the outlook of your other computer. It will import, Contact, Inbox items, Calendar and all those things which are under personal folders.

Great tips on exporting outlook, I am not a big fan of outlook, but you just made the job easier. ;-)
thanks!
Thanks for the appreciation. Your work and instructions for thunderbird were just awesome. It gave me the idea of posting the instruction for Oulook :)
Good article on backup and restore of the PST (and it worked just fine for me). However, how do you actually move the e-mail accounts. I have gone through what you have described here while moving my Oulook to a newly built pc. But the e-mail accounts do not seem to be included. I could re-enter them, but I have misplaced the password (don’t have any need to use it again once Outlook is set up).
Any help on this would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
