Recently, I’d posted that how I was able to save myself from lot of work as I made the image of hard disk partition which helped me restore the computer in just half an hour. But, if you have the habit of storing the documents and day to day use data in My documents then you’ll face a huge problem if you recover your computer or may be format your computer because you’ll be losing all that data.
Now, consider a situation where you’ve got enough work stored in my documents and suddenly you found that because of system file missing you just couldn’t boot your computer and it comes to a stage where you have no other choice but to format the hard disk.
It’s better if you store all the documents in other hard disk partitions which don’t have the Windows loaded because it helps you in various ways which we’ll discuss in future posts.
Now, lets focus on how you may store the data in My Documents but still it stores automatically in other partition :
1. Right click on My Documents.
2. Select Properties.
3. Under Target Folder Location, click on Move.
4. Select the different drive (other than the one where you have windows installed) and create a new folder there.
5. Select that folder and then Click on OK Twice.
This will save all your documents in that drive partition and even if you have to format your drive where the windows is installed, you’ll need not worry about data in My documents because it is stored safely in different partition.
