We’ve gotta fight against the SPAM blogs!

We all are fed up of SPAM blogs, the ones who just simply take excerpt from your blog posts and say that “we recently stumbled across a good post around blogosphere & there goes your post….” and link to your post and at the end make money doing nothing or rather ranking good in Google with the help of your hard work!

Keith thought of fighting against such blogs along with Ashish and me but unfortunately Keith’s tough schedule just didn’t help. Anyway, I think that as a full time blogger, I should pickup the task which was left in between.

I’ve been thinking about what exactly can be done about these blogs and after discussing it with Daniel, I’m still running short of ideas.

The only thought which gives me a little bit hope is that we can fight against these blogs with the help of old method of running some kind of petition and then approaching the companies (search engines, advertising networks) to ban them.

I’m not sure if that’ll work or not, but I’m sure if we can include some good list of bloggers then we’ll surely be able to fight back against these spam blogs. After all, there is no harm in trying.

However, before I’ll start with this project I would like to know about your thoughts on such a campaign or if you have some other idea in your mind to fight against these nasty blogs ?

Mayank, It’s a good idea. I can pledge my efforts to help fight it.

Contacting the host might be a good idea if the “author” doesn’t reply.

GREAT IDEA,

Using stumble upon i run across literally hundreds of such blogs. The most annoying ones are usually about how to make money blogging. They take a post from another how to make money blogging site, summerize it, then post their watered down version with a link.

Its soooo annoying!

@ Keith : I’ve already started working on it, lets see if this thing works out. I’m still thinking of a fool proof way of figthing these splogs. Only one thing has struck my mind till this time and that is creating a petition, but that is quite dicey..so can’t say if that will work

@ Madhur : I know you are already there…even if you would have said..no.I would have dragged you in :D
