InstaBlogs : Bringing bloggers and readers closer!
InstaBlogs is not a startup really, as they’ve already crossed 2 years and are already in profits but in order to scale up, they want funding and that’s why they decided to showcase InstaBlogs in Proto.in 2008 in front of the VCs and the entrepreneur’s.
InstaBlogs was started by Ankit and his wife Nandini Maheshwari and became the first blog network of India, although now it has gone past that stage of a blog network as now it’s more like a blogging platform where anyone can go and open an account and start maintaining a blog.
The unique selling point of instablogs is that they have got a good community around their blogs from various parts of the world and they all engage in conversations and thus it really proves that InstaBlogs is bringing bloggers and readers closer.
Their blog platform was built in-house and as far as the site navigation and highlighting the author and commenter is concerned, they’ve done a pretty neat job. I do believe that if anyone who’s feeling that their blog is unheard, then they should actually go and start blogging at InstaBlogs because the community will definitely respond to your posts.
Here’s the presentation which Ankit gave in front of all the entrepreneur’s and VCs at Proto.in 2008 (unfortunately, he wasn’t able to finish the presentation as 6 min. got over) :

Instablogs is really an emerging news source, the new UI is a plus point as it gives readers power to customize their preferences, also the big names like BBC and MSNBC too are moving in the same direction – of giving power to its readers.

@ Pooja : Well, I’ll rather disagree on that it’s more like a place where people discuss matters around a particular news which was covered by some news agency ? Citizen journalism is not so much evident in Instablogs at this point of time, however I don’t doubt the capabilities of the community at all.
I’m sure it can definitely turn into a big citizen journalism and If I’m not wrong that’s what Ankit and Nandini have in their mind and that’s why they are looking for funding.
Best of luck to InstaBlog guys. Great job in bringing Instablogs to such a level.

I do agree with you that INSTABLOGS is a place where people all around the web / world come and shed their views on variety of topics be it politics, environment, tech, health, sports to name a few. I just wanna put forth the feature which the new interface incorporates, “news in focus, which till some extent would act like a news source.

If you have a look atleast http://www.startupdunia.com/2007/03/19/instablogs...
you will see that by the time few readers stared probing into affairs and working of instablogs- there had been lot of good work been done by this India based website being managed by a couple named ankit and nandinee.
The domain is question…himadventures.com had been handovered to people operating a adventure and outdoor agency with .net domain…this again makes our claims and probes true that instablogs is pseudo working and there could be more hidden dramas underneath this. Most of the time when I and my friends search net for them…we found that similar people are posting positive comments about them. And this practice has been seen on google blogs also.
Wow !
They claim to have USD3 million now !!

I had been reading a lot about instablogs being fluke but they claim to be making USD 3 million deals…and this is strange, how these people manage to have that high or this whole setup is a hype, a sort of scam ?
By visiting their website – all you see is stolen images and stolen data but howcome google itself did not noticed it ?
I am sure more and more people will come forward to expose such scams. Perhaps we are going to see India in top list of of IT scams !
