iTasveer - Photo Printing and Personalized Schwag!

itasveer

iTasveer is an online photo printing and personalized schwag printing service in India. It’s run by four ex-IITians (Delhi) and is based in Gurgaon, Haryana, India (where I’m located). iTasveer has already been recognized by fantastic deal in the past with Microsoft and their excellent feature called DoodlePad and when they were chosen as the best web service in India in the photo printing section by PC World.

iTasveer is the only service in India which is listed under the Online Print Wizard of Windows Vista and if you’ve selected the location as India, then you can get the photos printed directly from Windows Photo Gallery.

Apart from that what really sets iTasveer apart from other printing services in India is the feature called DoodlePad. This flash based feature lets you add various call-outs, add frames around the pictures and make collage so that you can get them printed either as Big posters or on T-shirts and mugs. You can also order handmade photo albums and the money involved in those handmade albums goes to the NGO Parichay (who make those albums).

Another feature which impressed me was the option of sharing the photos with friends and family members, I know this is nothing new but what is interesting is that provide unlimited photo sharing. You don’t have to worry about how many photos you upload and all that for free. They have integrated Picasa and Flickr too, so you don’t have to re-upload the photos which are already lying in your other accounts.

They have the plans to come up with some FaceBook application too but they are not just concentrating on offering the printing options only, but they are thinking of coming up with an application which will have some unique features and which serves the purpose of the users too, although, what and when is still not revealed by them. They are also planning to get external funding and they’ve done pretty well by staying in the business for around 1 and half years with self funds.

The online photo printing has good competition at this point of time in India and we can’t say that there is any clear winner in this space however, product wise this seems to be the best at this moment. But, still they are not perfect and I would like to see some of these options in this service :

1. Ability to order CDs or DVDs.
2. Ability to send photographs outside India too.

I agree with Amit of WebYantra (who covered them earlier) that this space will turn into online gift service where many people will love to send personalized schwag to their loved ones. What do you think about this service, feel free to post your opinion in the comments section.

This service looked quite good when I tried it about year back but except one big plus of being Indian startup, it appeared very slow and lacking lot of features.

I have been getting updates about it but still it is lagging way behind leading photo sharing services when you don’t have common features like calendar printing etc. Also there is limited space to store your photos, so it can’t be chosen for photo storage when there are websites which are coming up with unlimited photo storage and you can get your photos printed over there.

    Hi Nitesh

We’re working on our product line. Plan to introduce more products soon, and calendars are one of the priorities :).

I’m not sure how you get the limited storage part though. There are no upload limits (yet!). And we sure do print photos too!

Thanks for the review Mayank :)
