The essential difference, above and beyond features and MS Office compatibility, between ThinkFree Premium and what either Zoho or Google offers is the ability to work online/offline and the excellent synchronization ThinkFree Premium offers. No one else has offered up anything like this. The collaboration features are well-designed and make commenting and shared editing easy.

I work on two computers every day - a MacBook and a Tablet PC - and also use a variety of mobile devices including an Asus UMPC (Windows) and a Nokia N800 (Maemo Linux). The fact that I can access all of my documents on any any of these devices and know that I'm always working on the very latest version is a big win. So is the fact that I get a consistent user experience no matter which platform or device I'm using.

Disclaimer: I'm an adviser to ThinkFree and make no claims to be completely objective. The reason I've engaged with the company is because I am so impressed with their vision and their execution quality.

Jonathan,

That was the wonderful explanations. I will agree with you when you said "Feature Rich". you're very correct on that! I have seen and used Google docs and Zoho docs before. But they both seem to provide the down graded version of Office suite that fits in for web! BTW, I believe ZOHO has interoperability with Microsoft Word.

Finally, yes the decision solely depends on the person's perspective on what he is looking out of it. IMO, ZOHO and Google Docs will fit better for freelance to medium scale company. ThinkFree can be integrated at the corporate wide level!

Benedict,

The main unique values of ThinkFree vs. Google or Zoho are a) Microsoft Office compatibility - we are the only online office that provides roundtrip compatibility, and b) a much richer feature set.

Now don't get me wrong. I love Zoho and think they have a lot going for them. They are trying to compete with Google in being the platform people turn to when they need email, calendar, web site creation tools, etc. and I have to say I have been much more impressed with what Zoho has to offer there. But, we are not trying to be all things to everyone. We are providing an office suite that has deep development instead of covering the breadth that Google is. We are using partners to develop out our feature set.

So, in the end it really boils down to what you want out of your office applications. If Zoho works better for you, great. If ThinkFree knocks your socks off, great. It's all about offering alternatives isn't it?

Daniel, please let me know if you are still getting that error message. Don't know what happened there.

Thanks,
Jonathan

@ Daniel : Thanks for stopping by and taking time to leave the comment. I checked it and I'm getting the same result. It may be that they are currently facing some problem and that's why we are getting this message. I'm sure it will be all right in some time.

Don't forget to try this product.

Never heard of this ThinkFree, so went on http://www.thinkfree.om to try to see what it does.

But I instantly got this: "The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, lockfree@thinkfree.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log."

Does anyone have a review on it? Or another link where I can study this product? Thanks.

Agreed with Mark and Andrew it can't be exclusive if it available for a certain group itself :)

@Andrew- talking about Premium service, even if I like the ThinkFree service. I do really need to evaluate between ThinkFree and other Free players in the market. for instance take ZOHO office; What does ThinkFree makes unique?

@ Andrew : You are welcome Andrew :)
You are providing such a nice service. Well, the reason I chose to write "exclusive" was that it is not available to everyone and is limited.

So, doesn't that put me in exclusive category :)

Thanks for the nice write up on ThinkFree Premium.

For those of you that like the service, and hate the ads, you'll be happy to learn that ThinkFree Premium will be ad-free.

We are expanding the number of Beta users for Premium, it was "exclusive", but now is just "limited" (for further clarification of the difference in terms, I'm sorry but our marketing department is on vacation).

@ Ben : I know, that's what bloggers do. But, try not to hate others ads too :)

@ Mark : What makes you think that I'm not exclusive?
