FaceBook which has become the choice of social network for many because of the clean interface and some great hype which it managed to create. Anyway, FaceBook allows developers to create applications which work on FaceBook and there are many applications which provide great usability and thus makes FaceBook a productive network too.
Zoho the online office service has created the FaceBook app and has integrated three main products i.e. Zoho writer, Zoho sheet and Zoho show. This allows you to create, edit and view various office documents and share those documents with your friends on FaceBook.
Similarly ThinkFree has released the FaceBook app and again, it provides the same functionality i.e. it allows you to view, edit and create new office document files from FaceBook only.
However, both the companies have actually failed in one place and i.e. integrating the FaceBook login with their services. You still need a login for the individual services although, you just need to login once and that’s it but what’s the big use of this app for FaceBook users, if they have to create another login.
I think they should have just created the app and integrated it with FaceBook login only and then should have let the users decide if they want to use them every where and if that be the case then the users will need to sign up for the service, I’m sure that would have given them the real picture of the real popularity of the services too. Till now i havnt used facebook. I was into orkut , but recently deleted the account as it got blocked in UAE. As far as i have seen , these social networks appeal in the begining , later they become boring. Dont you think that after some time these all networks become playground of spammers and porn stars !! but still I think i should try once atleast :)
@ Kanak : i think you must go ahead and use it. Facebook is really nice and much better than Orkut. The only reason, that Orkut is doing good because most of the people are sitting on it…yes sitting on it! They don’t want to try anything other than it.
I know people are getting bored of social networks but they can always be used to find old friends and it depends on one person that how they can make use of these social networks.
