Last time when I reviewed AVG Internet Security 8, I gave it 5/5 and it deserved it too. However, I noticed that many commenters on that particular blog post faced lot of issues in upgrading the antivirus and just now I came across this post from Cnet where they are reporting that an update of Avg internet security 8 is triggering false alarm to one of the important system file (user32.dll) in Windows XP (guess what XP SP3 wasn’t any good).

Although, the problem only affects users of AVG 8 products running the Dutch, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish language versions of Windows XP. However, those users who have deleted that file or taken some protective action are now suffering as their computers now fail to boot.

AVG’s been making some dreadful mistakes in recent times. In the last update, it triggered important files of ZoneAlarm firewall and prior to that it had to make some adjustments in it’s linkscanner tool as it created huge traffic spikes (fake one and caused bandwidth problem) for various webmasters.

AVG has always left me impressed with their products however, problem like these definitely ruin the experience and now I’ll think twice before recommending this wonderful product to those who aren’t technically that sound.

Will you recommend AVG Internet Security 8 to anyone, if at all they continue to make mistakes like these?
