A firewall should be one with some real fire power in it! When looking for a guard for my PC, I would always go for one that is shrewd and relentless. And I guess I have found one!
The Software
Comodo Pro is a meticulous firewall with a myriad of features. It continuously monitors and informs you about your PC’s Internet activity and gives you various options to regulate them.
Let us have a look at its strengths and weaknesses
The Strengths
1. It’s Comprehensive
It has an Application Monitor, a Component Monitor, a Network Monitor and an Application Behavior Analysis which together create a list of almost every activity that is taking place on your desktop. The laymen can go by default settings while the advanced users can define trusted applications and networks enjoying a wide range of customizability over the settings and rules.
2. It’s Relentless
It keeps showering you with notifications and “trying to connect to the Internet” windows which contain the basic information about the detected activity. You can then use the options available to decide upon the successive action. The “Remember my answer for this application” ensures non-redundancy.
3. It’s Performance oriented
While running in the background, it hardly ever gives your performance graph a downward slope. Neither does it interfere with the connection speed.
4. It’s a freeware
The Weaknesses
1. A Little Paranoiac
Sometimes the torrent of alerts it pops up can be annoying. But then that in a way only goes to show how efficient the software is. A layman can formulate a general rule of allowing all identified services to connect while the paranoids can send them to Comodo for analysis.
2. No Vista Compatibility
Bottom Line
This dragon has the fire. Dino loved it.

Hi Shanshak,
Thanks for the info on Comodo. I needed a freeware firewall. Now I would like some info on any free antivirus. I am tired of Norton and AVG trials. Do you have any in mind?
