Secure Notepad : Encrypt the important text files!
Secure Notepad is a small notepad replacement which has exact look and feel of Microsoft Notepad. Now what’s “Secure” in this notepad is that it fades out the text when you switch to the secure mode and that’s done by removing the focus from the window.
It also minimizes on its own after few seconds of inactivity and the best and real secure part comes in when you try to save the file. The software allows you to put two levels of security and that makes your text files secure.
1. Key File : You can chose any file as key file and next time when you open up that secure text file, then you have to point the same file as the key file which you chose at the time of encrypting the file. Important thing to note is that you have to make sure that the content of the key file never changes.
2. Pass phrase : This approach will allow you to encrypt the file using a password and the software uses Blowfish encryption algorithm to encrypt the file.
PROS of Secure Notepad :
In case you have some text which you don’t want to save from the prying eyes then you can easily protect them using this software.
CONS of Secure Notepad :
There is no real negative of Secure Notepad however, consider this situation where you saved an important text and chose the key file method to encrypt it and then your computer was hit by a virus which changed the content of the key file!
Software Version & Summary :
Version : 0.1
Licence : Free
Limitations : None
Homepage : exLibertine
OS Required : Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP/Vista
Overall Review & Views :
I really don’t see any huge benefit of this utility. There are various other ways through which you can encrypt file. So there is no real use of this utility but in case you want to use it for small stuff then this utility has no harm as well.

It seems to be a new utility, nobody uses the old styled notepad any more, but the only benefit can be seen in creating the batch files, where we dont want our code to be leaked.

@ Vaibhav : It can’t be used to create the batch files. The reason, it encrypts the text only in *.etxt format and not any other format :(

I feel these are just additional features for a notepad, not much of use to common users.

@ Nirmal : As I said that it’s OK but only for people specifically looking for these kind of features.
