Vista or XP ? SaveXP stats show that it’s XP!

  11 Mar 2008 by ReviewSaurus | , , , ,

save-xp I hardly see people supporting Microsoft, however I keep in mind that still over 90 % of people use Windows. Windows Vista gets lots of negative comments and I can’t say much about it as I’ve not upgraded to Vista yet.

InfoWorld ran a campaign called SaveXP in response to Microsoft’s decision of discontinuing Windows XP from June 2008 and now they’ve posted the stats (of course these stats don’t speak for everyone, still it matters) which say that over 70 % of people still want XP to stay and that they’ll buy it again if given an option.

I personally feel that Windows XP over the years has been perfect example of an operating system. It’s been running for years (over 6 years now), it’s stable and it gets better with every service pack.

Lot of comments say that they are more excited to see the SP3 release of Windows XP than Windows Vista’s SP1 or upcoming Windows 7.

I’m going to vote for Windows XP as, I would love to see this version to keep on going forever and would suggest Microsoft to work on Windows XP itself and add all the new functions in it, rather than launching more and more OSes. Although, I really doubt if that’ll ever happen.

As a Windows user, What do you prefer Windows XP or Windows Vista ?

I tried both the OSes and right now I am using XP only. The first impression that I got after working for few days on Vista was that it was launched in a hurry without fixing many of its internal bugs. I don’t know why Microsoft was so much eager to launch it in the market. Vista is total waste.

XP on the other hand is the best OS produced ever by Microsoft. I am anxiously waiting for the release of Windows 7. I am sure Microsoft will not commit that mistake again. Windows 7 will compete with XP, that’s for sure. But again it’s just my perspective.
    :-)

XP all the way. Not only for stability, but also for req. system resources.

Besides, I don’t find anything revolutionary in Vista, so see no point in busting $200+ for a copy of Vista.

Same’s the case with Leopard vs Tiger. I wonder what’s going on with Apple and MS - trying to squeeze all our money?

My work laptop and desktop run XP, while my family laptops use Vista. I would prefer Vista (can’t use it now because it has not been adopted by the corporation). I don’t like what Microsoft did with Windows Explorer in Vista, but other features have been improved (Start menu, widgets, performance).

My vote used to be XP, but now I’m more on the fence since support for drivers and the like are now starting to come around a bit.

Im using XP on my Desktop and Vista on my new Lappie. Vista has given me a dozen or so BSOD’s since I got it in Nov of last year. All occur when I tweak it a tad. Its not tweak friendly at all.

    Mayank,
This was the same thought when XP was launched, I still remember people saying XP has lot of issue. Its natural that when a new version comes up old versions have to give way for them. I moved to Vista 2 months back and I feel its better than Vista.

I don’t use both, which is quite funny. I am still with my Win2000. Lol!

I use XP at work and maintain it on 3 family systems at home. My laptop came with Vista and my DIY desktop unit is Ubuntu. XP is a lot easier to maintain and as stated earlier Vista is not tweak friendly. Ubuntu Rocks! I am very pleased to find out about andLinux.
