Choose Domain Names Wisely!

Domain name is the reflection of anybody’s website, blog etc. and thus choosing the domain name becomes equally important. As the domain name itself can make someone rich (Utube Vs. Youtube) and can help in building a good brand name.

Recently, I came across the list of Top Ten Worst Domains, which shows that how small mistakes in choosing the domain name can make fun of your product, brand name or the motive of your website. In order to make sure that you don’t fall into this list, one must always think twice and must consult someone before booking any domain name. Apart from that, one must keep these things in mind as well :

1. Check for the Trademark Issues : Before registering any domain name, make sure that you are not violating any trademarks. This can lead you in trouble and you may end up paying huge bills to your lawyers. So, follow this tutorial to find out, how you can be safe from the Trademark Law Issues.

2. Use of dash or hyphen : Everyone wants a domain name which is simple to understand and thus everyone wants to avoid the use of dash or hyphen. However, it is important that we must not make a mistake like the people have done in the above mentioned list. If I am the owner of Pen Island then I will not like to use penisland.net as my domain name but I’ll rather use pen-island.net or pen-island.com (although, they say on their website that don’t be fooled by pen-island.net..he he)

3. Use different TLDs : In case the .com or .net is not available then it is most likely that you’ll be able to register the domain name in a different TLD. For e.g. ReviewSaurus.com or ReviewSaurus.net may not be available but it is quite a possibility that you’ll find ReviewSaurus.info or ReviewSaurus.biz etc. etc.
