secret.jpgHiding the files and folders is one thing which everyone wants to do at some point of time or the other. It becomes more important when the files are really important and you don’t want your children to delete them accidentally or mess up with those files in one way or the other. We all know one way of hiding the files and that is the traditional way of hiding the files or folders in windows (But is that a secret anymore?) But still if you are very new to computers or windows then let me explain that way as well :

Traditional windows hide files/folders feature :

1. Right click on the file/folder.
2. Tick the box “Hidden” & click on OK.
3. That hides it!

Showing the hidden files/folders :

1. Go to control panel.
2. Open Folder Options.
3. Click on View tab.
4. Under Hidden files and folder select Show hidden files and folders.
5. Click on OK. That’s it!

However, this technique is really really simple and most of the people know about it. And on top of it, any file which is hidden is slightly faded and thus everyone will come to know that it is hidden and has something important or suspicious (I’m sure you’ll love to open every folder which is hidden, won’t you ? human nature!!!)

So, here’s another way of hiding the files/folders and which gives much more peace of mind! Although, it is not new but still I thought that it will be wise to share it with my readers and it can be more effective if used intelligently.

1. Create a new folder.
2. Rename it and when it asks for the name simply press ALT key and type 0160. You’ll see that in the name there will be a small space and that way there will be no name of that folder.
3. Almost done but to hide it completely, simply right click on the folder and click on properties.
4. Go to Customize tab.
5. Click on Change Icon.
6. Choose an icon from the list which is completely blank.
7. Click on all OK buttons.

That’s it! This trick will completely hide the folder however in case you forget where exactly that folder was placed then it may be difficult to find that folder. But, still there is a solution to that as well.

In order to locate that folder simply press F5 on the keyboard and that will display you all the hidden folders (the ones you’ve hidden) and that too for a brief second but enough that you’ll be able to locate the folder.
