How to run Linux applications in Windows!

There is one linux application which I really like and unfortunately unlike most of other Linux applications (the ones which are of some standard), is not available for Windows. Amarok music player is that application. Anyway, I love that software a lot but couldn’t run it on Windows.

But not any more! andLinux is the application which will help me in running this application without any problem. andLinux is a software which is based on Ubuntu and which allows you to run Linux natively in Windows 2000 based systems (Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 2003 ; 32 bit versions only).

There are two flavors available in andLinux, one is XFCE based and the other one is KDE based. KDE version is quite huge in size and is over 500 MB, XFCE is light in size and is around 150 Mb.

I installed and ran various applications without any problem. I installed XFCE version and unfortunately couldn’t run Amarok on it, but I’m sure it’ll work perfectly fine in the KDE version as it’s a KDE based application.

What’s good about this software is that it allows you to share files between the linux and windows. You just need to create a shared folder in windows and then you’ll be able to access all the files in Linux.

You can call it Wine for windows which runs Linux applications!

I am hearing this first time. Tried Wine a lot in Linux but never thought of running Linux apps on windows. Well, I’ll surely try this.
